Hi everyone, I have the full discography of the band, have been a fan for 5- decades, & this debut-album is a magnificent album, & by-far gets the most plays at my place to-this-day, with everything else through to Moving Pictures getting equal share behind it, followed there-after by the other awesome releases. I have the original LP release & the CD, & they have always sounded really, really good. Very-well recorded & produced imo, with perhaps the only gripe being questionable stereo imagery on some tracks, that becomes apparent when listening through 5.1 systems. Its historical significance signals both the end of one-era, & the start of a new one...John Rutsey was quite a capable drummer, who displays a fine, natural, inherrant groove, that weaves & flows through all of these tunes. Sometimes less = more, & John delivered enough to make these tracks sound complete, polished, & very-well delivered. Geddy sings & plays incredibly well, supporting the heavy-duty riffing from Alex with amazing mature sensabilities, and intriguing bass-lines that combine to make a most excellent debut album. Geddy uses guide-tones , 3rd,'s & other melodic passages to augment these tunes, making the power-trio sound much fuller & larger, whilst supporting the melody, & solos with amazing dexterity. There's an abundance of light & shade, with Alex also displaying a mature sense of melody with his soloing, & you can play these tunes over & over again, decade after decade & never ever tire from…
