Before the days of digital, Rush fans had to work hard to stay updated on current news for their favorite band. In 1980, The Rush Backstage Club was created to deliver, via regular mail service, band news, tour dates, fan Q&As, merchandise catalogues, and a young Neil Pearts reflections. Over the years, there were over thirty newsletters released, some were full of timelines from Neil, some contained tentative upcoming tour dates, and some were merely merchandise catalogues. We have reprinted and bound the most meaningful of these newsletters in a 9 X 12, 96-page folio.
This folio is printed in Canada on heavy art paper, with open-stitch binding on the spine. Along with actual newsletters, there are a couple of other visual features, as well as a couple hand-typed notes from Neil to their management company SRO. There is an Introduction written by Ray Wawrzyniak, and Foreword written by Patrick McLoughlin.

We put together some rough demos of the aforementioned five songs, as well as a rough (to say the least), and riotous (to say the most), version of Witch Hunt. This was the winner of the most re-written song award, being very difficult to get a handle on, but our intention had always been to use it as the production number of the album, in the tradition of such pieces as Different Strings, Madrigal, and Tears Neil Peart 1980

Q In what album did you think you performed your best drumming? Will you ever write a book, maybe even on the history of Rush? Rush fan Kyong Yup Chu, from Fort Lee, NJ
A In answer to the first question, I think my best drumming appears on the album I havent recorded yet! In other words, I havent got there yet.
I would like to write some kind of a book someday, but there are plenty of histories of Rush around now, I havent really got anything to add. If anything at all in that line, perhaps a collection of the biographical writings on the band I have done over the years. response from Neil Peart 1987

Steve W.December 20, 2024This is a must have for anyone who loves to read Neil's writings. Let's face it, after Silver Surfers, we are highly unlikely to see any more material to be released. So, why not take a step back in time, and read all his responses and essays to fans from back in the day. Neil has always had a way with words, obviously. He adds his humor, sardonic remarks, and personality in these newsletters, and I have fully enjoyed this book. It's fun to just pick up, and read a section or two. Also, it is a beautifully bound and quality product. Hey, it's Rush! What else would you expect. Free shipping too! -Wow! Buy this book. You won't be sorry.

Eric ShecktonMarch 1, 2023As always, these books are a keepsake for any Rush fan. I am still waiting for them to release a Rush lyrics book. I think that would be something worth having. A nice leather bound hardcover book of Rush song lyrics, Each chapter could highlight each albums song lyrics and other tid bits of fun. Just sayin....

MichaelJanuary 9, 2022I absolutely love it! Although I’ve been a fan since the late 70’s, I somehow missed out on the Backstage Club all those years. This is a great opportunity to read them for the first time or to re-read Rush history. This book comes highly recommended!
